I love April 1, it’s a day where companies take themselves less seriously and like to have fun, especially with their social media followers. Luckily for us, the nail industry is not immune to a little first of April fun. Here’s a look at the jokes we woke up to this morning:

The mavens over at Julep are introducing Cat Color with Catnip Complex. These cat-topped polishes come in four personality profiles: Asleep, Glamourpuss, So Hungry, and Psycho Kitty.

Zoya is known for their awesome April Fools Day pranks. This year, they announced the Zoya My Box subscription, which could be feasible enough, until you take their quiz to find out what the contents of your box should include. My results left me with the (My)Box Pet Box. Animals available include dog, cat, rock, bird, rescue farm animals, fish, Tamagotchi, reptile, Chia Pet, and dinosaur (of course, breed varies upon availability). Well played, Zoya.

Who says the English have a stiff upper lip? These pranksters from across the pond introduced three new shades for men today: Top Hat and Tails, Smoking Jacket, and Lord of the Manner. The mustaches on the Ciate packaging are perfection.

The industry source for all things nails staged a unicorn takeover today. Their social media profiles on Facebook and Twitter feature their 1984 cover, while their April #31Nails 2014 Instagram challenge boasts a particular overriding theme.
