Going With a Pro

Do you prefer to get your mani/pedi done at a salon, or are you more of a DIY-er? A new study from CND (the creators of CND Shellac) found most women prefer to get their services done at a salon despite the recent trend toward do-it-yourself.

The study shows:

  • 91% of women tend to feel better after visiting salons
  • 8 in 10 women say the salons do it better than they do
  • 74% of women have a great relationship with their nail technician
  • And more than half have been disappointed with at-home results

Anything other than a quick two-coat polish I leave to the professionals — they did go to school for this, after all!

What do you think, professional or DIY? Tell us which you prefer in the comments below.

I have no issue with giving people my business for skills they’ve received training in. However, when I do a better job myself and it would cost me over $60 a month to have them do it. Um. No. Sorry. The experience is great, don’t get me wrong. However, I’m a perfectionist so I’d rather take the time to do it right than feel pushed through so my nail tech can see another client. PS I am making no judgements, this is how they make a living right? I love doing my own Shellac, for some reason I find the process relaxing and gratifying. Using a high quality product like Shellac is very rewarding, I have nothing but good things to say about it regardless of whether someone goes the professional or DIY route. Other gel polishes are however, a different story.
