Consumer Reports put seven nail polishes to the test to determine wearability, and revealed the longest lasting polish is also the cheapest. According to the publication, Sinful Colors’ GoGo Girl ($2) was the “Best Buy,” looking good longer than Chanel’s Dragon ($27).
To execute the test, Consumer Reports hired a professional nail tech to apply the tested polishes including CND Vinylux, Revlon, and Sally Hansen, among others, on one group of volunteers. Meanwhile, a separate group took the DIY approach and tested the polish at home. If the brand had a base or top coat, they used that too.
At the 7-day mark, the study showed Sinful Colors, CND Vinylux, and Revlon still looked good on those with a professional manicure while several home-use panelists said their Chanel mani chipped the same day they applied it.
