As a nail art aficionado I love executing simple to complex designs and I am very particular about the care and condition of my natural nails. To be frank, the last time I went to a salon for a manicure was for my high school prom. So when I got invited to visit Yuka Style BH in Beverly Hills, Calif., for a service, I got nervous. But that quickly changed as soon as I made it out to the location.
I was greeted by a welcoming staff and was quickly ushered past a full service hair studio and up to the second floor’s cozy nail station that has two spots for working nail techs. Unbeknownst to me, Yuka Style’s only gel manicurist, Mariko, is a walking definition of nail artist. The moment she showed me her display of nail art she created using Cal Gel, Bio Seaweed Gel, and the finest Japanese calligraphy brush and tools, I knew I was in the right hands.
I surrendered complete control to Mariko and she exceeded my expectations. In the short time I was with her, she quickly understood my personality and interests. She gave me a fun, bright, and abstract manicure by mixing three colored gels and metallic foils. She even hand painted an owl, inspired by my jewelry using white acrylic paint and topped it off with rhinestones for eyes. Mariko says she enjoys getting to know her clients so that she can give them unique nails that ring true to the individual.
Check out this short clip of Mariko working on the manicure she dubbed, “Last Summer Nails.”
Aside from the intricate nail art, Yuka Style BH also offers a unique service called Power Nails. Made out of a combination of crushed precious stones and clear gel, Power Nails are believed to have healing and meditation properties that double as a good luck charm and look elegant to boot. I recommend this nail studio to anyone looking for unique and personalized gel manicures.
