A little known fact about competing at Wimbledon: there’s a strict dress code. The clothing guidelines state a preference for totally white shorts or pastel colors. But women at Wimbledon have begun skirting the rules with their nails. Tennis players like Heather Watson, Maria Kirilenko, and Laura Robson sported glitter and bright colors on their tips.

But the player whose nails are packing the most “Pow” is Serena Williams. Not only is she the top ranking female tennis player in the world, but she is also a licensed nail tech. Williams served up different nail art on each digit at Wimbledon, with a bright orange tying it all together. The orange on her nails matched the shorts she wore under her skirt, giving her outfit a pop of (non-pastel) color. Williams chose to have five different designs to represent her five different titles. “I’m really inspired by comics right now and comic nails are really hot,” says the tennis pro. We love that Williams is championing nail art at Wimbledon. Breaking the rules has never looked so good.
