If you’re like me, you wake up in the morning and check your Instagram feed almost immediately. I usually groggily “like” a few photos, but today I snapped to attention upon seeing what looked like a nail polish bottle in the @Louboutinworld feed. Women’s Wear Daily confirmed my suspicions, and now I am happy to share with all of you that Christian Louboutin will in fact launch a luxury lacquer line today!
If you’re a lover of all things shoes like I am, then you know that the origin of the famous Louboutin red sole is in fact a bottle of Chanel nail polish. The story goes that Mr. Louboutin felt his shoes weren’t actually as colorful as his initial sketch, so he grabbed a jar of red nail polish from his assistant and added them to his sketch. The rest is fashion (and beauty) history.

The polish line is capped with tall, spiky tops, resembling a killer heel and slightly reminiscent of a skyscraper. The nail color bottle offers an ombre effect and the ending slide of the Louboutin site reminds you that “Rouge goes with everything.” Rouge Louboutin goes on sale today for $50 a pop at the Saks Flagship in New York and at the 15 Louboutin boutiques in the U.S. Other luxury stores such as Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf’s, Nordstrom ,and select Sephora stores will unveil the polish on August 6 with the remaining 30 shades being launched August 31.
