One of my favorite moments from the Sochi Games occurred off the ice and snow. It was when women’s bobsleigh driver for team Great Britain, Paula Walker, stopped and painted her nails before officially beginning her training last Friday.

The Olympian spiced up her French mani by adding two Union Jack accent nails and an homage to her mother on her thumb.

USA and GB

It just so happens that I completed my own version of Olympic-style nail art in honor of both Team Great Britain and Team USA. I call the United States my home, so I am wearing NCLA‘s Fiercely Independent nail wrap on my left ring fingernail. The only other place I have called home was during my time away at school in beautiful England, so the Union Jack nail foil sits on my ring fingernail on my right hand. The remaining nails are polished in Red Carpet Manicure’s Aphrodite’s Allure, because the Olympics are Greek after all.

Best of luck to Paula and all the other Olympians competing in Sochi!
